NoHo Arts District

Map
The NoHo Arts District, located in North Hollywood in the San Fernando Valley, became a "LANI neighborhood" in 1994. Through the hard work of community stakeholders in partnership with LANI and the Community Redevelopment Agency, NoHo has transformed from a thoroughfare dotted with vacant lots to a burgeoning theater district with coffee shops, restaurants and eclectic retail. In June 2000, the terminal Metro Red Line subway station opened within walking distance of this blossoming neighborhood main street.

LANI Sustainable Organization

In accordance with LANI's program design, the NoHo Recognized Community Organization (RCO) created the North Hollywood Community Forum (NHCF), a 501(c)3 nonprofit. LANI continues to provide some support services to No Ho, but most of their activities are independent from LANI.

North Hollywood Community Forum's Recent Projects

  • Transformation of vacant lot into parking lot supported by $80,000 grant from the MTA.
  • Administration of $96,000 sidewalk repair grants - Council Districts 2 & 4
  • Construction of a roller hockey rink. A partnership with the YMCA, this $825,000 project includes funding from TNI, Oakwood School, and a $321,000 grant from Prop K/LA for Kids.
  • NHCF worked closely with Targeted Neighborhoods Initiative (TNI) efforts in North Hollywood. It was the lead agency for two projects: 1) the $250,000 Burbank Boulevard Gateway Project, which included 100 new street trees along Lankersheim Boulevard; and 2) the $525,000 TNI-funded Chandler Outdoor Gallery.

  • $500,000 in improvements to properties abutting the Art Park
  • 30 new jobs in immediate vicinity of Art Park
  • 8 new businesses (most in previously vacant facilities) attracted to the immediate vicinity of the park
