LANI Projects

Our agency has made a significant, permanent impact in more than 50 neighborhoods across Greater Los Angeles.

Western Gage Community Park

Western Gage Community Park, breaking ground in 2025, is transforming an underutilized vacant lot into a pocket park to provide green space, shade, and community gathering opportunities in South Los Angeles. Highlights of the project include traffic calming infrastructure to slow down traffic and improve pedestrian safety, along with extensive stormwater management that will retain 80% of rain onsite.

Step by Step Pedestrian Plans

Since 2016, LANI has been a partner of LA County Public Health’s Step by Step program, spearheading community engagement in unincorporated neighborhoods. By gathering hyper-local input for pedestrian safety plans through tabling at community events, school meetings, focus groups, surveys, stakeholder interviews, community workshops, walk audits, and pedestrian counts, community stakeholders help develop a network of sidewalks and other infrastructure that allow people to walk safely.

Sidewalk Repair and Improvements

LANI plays a pivotal role in repairing aging and damaged sidewalks throughout the City of Los Angeles. Since 2014, LANI has been partnering with City Council offices to restore sidewalks eroded by tree roots and wear and tear. This program has expedited essential repairs and improved pedestrian safety for seniors, families, and people with disabilities. In addition, LANI also plants and helps maintain street trees to provide shade, reduce pollution, and enhance the beauty of our neighborhoods.

Commercial Corridor Façade Improvements

LANI partners with municipal departments, property owners, and local businesses to transform aging commercial districts through façade improvements. LANI’s expertise in design support that modernizes exteriors and revitalizes façades alongside public art, lighting, and streetscape enhancements is currently underway in JEDI (Jobs, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Zones throughout the City of LA, where we are delivering upgrades that enable small businesses to contribute to community revitalization while preserving local heritage.

Business Improvement District Management

LANI manages Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) that foster economic development and community pride in historically underserved areas. Since 2006, LANI has provided administrative and strategic leadership for the Byzantine-Latino Quarter Pico BID, encompassing the Byzantine-Latino Quarter, North Harvard Heights, and Pico-Union neighborhoods. In 2021, we joined the newly formed West Adams BID, another historic and culturally rich commercial corridor. As BID manager, LANI coordinates services like sidewalk cleaning, beautification, marketing, and small business support.

Training and Capacity Building

LANI shares our expertise by providing targeted training and capacity-building services for community-based organizations and municipal departments and agencies. We facilitate workshops and create materials that focus on inclusive, substantive, on-the-ground community engagement, equipping our partners with practical skills and culturally responsive tools to build trust, elevate underrepresented voices, and deliver meaningful, community-guided outcomes.
